IIFT 2009 : An Overview

IIFT 2009 paper had only four sections unlike six sections last year.

There were no case studies.Another surprise were the sectional cut-offs that have been introduced here for the very first time.

There were only 122 questions unlike last year’s 150 questions. The negative marking was that of 0.33% or 1/3.

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning sections were clubbed up into a single section. The pattern of DI and LR was intense calculation based. Possible cut off – 10-12 +

Verbal Ability which focussed heavily on the vocabulary part , had a higher number of questions than the General Knowledge section.

Reading Comprehension had two long and two small passages. Possible cut off – 13+

Quantitative Ability section was very tough this year. An attempt of 10+ questions can be considered to be good.Possible cut off – 8+

General Awareness There were a fewer questions this year. Possible cut off – 5+

Overall possible cut off: 37+

IIFT 2008 - An Overview

The third test in the series – IIFT 2008 – did not throw any major surprise in terms of test structure or answer options. Conducted on 23rd November 2008, IIFT was a fairly easy paper with a mix of easy and moderately difficult questions. One had to spend time in reading each question because it was framed in a lengthy manner. There were no business judgement cases this year.

SECTION - 1: Logical & Analytical Ability Ideally one should have attempted 11-14 questions in Logical and Analytical Reasoning section with a possible accuracy of 8-10 questions. A possible score in this section would be 6+.

SECTION - 2: Quantitative Ability Ideally one should have attempted 8-10 questions with a possible accuracy of 6-8 questions. A possible score in this section would be 4+.

SECTION - 3: Data Interpretation Ideally one should have attempted 8-10 questions in Data Interpretation section with a possible accuracy of 7-9 questions. A possible score in this section would be 5+.

SECTION - 4: Reading Comprehension One could have attempted 6 to 7 questions in this section with a possible accuracy of 4 to 5 questions. A possible score in this section would be 3+.

SECTION - 5: Verbal Ability One could have attempted 15-17questions in Verbal Ability section with a possible accuracy of 11-12 questions. A possible score in this section would be 7+.

SECTION - 6: General Knowledge A good attempt in this section would be 15-18 questions in General Knowledge section with a possible accuracy of 10-12 questions. A possible score in this section would be 4+.

OVERALL, a good score could be 29+ marks.
